Why Ironside Counseling?

Ironside Counseling takes its name from the USS Constitution, one of the oldest commissioned warships in the world. During the War of 1812, sailors observed enemy cannonballs appearing to bounce from the ship's thick oak hull, earning it the enduring nickname "Old Ironsides."

The name reflects a core belief of this practice: resilience is not the absence of struggle, but the capacity to endure challenges, adapt, and continue moving forward. Life's hardships can leave lasting impacts, yet people possess a remarkable ability to heal, grow, and discover new strength through adversity.

At Ironside Counseling, therapy is focused on helping people navigate difficult seasons, find their bearings, and move forward with greater confidence.

A Foundation of Service:

This photo was taken during my deployment to Afghanistan as a Navy Corpsman serving alongside Marine Corps units. Corpsmen are Navy medical personnel who provide healthcare and emergency medical support in operational and combat environments. My military service helped shape my understanding of stress, resilience, loss, purpose, and personal growth. Those experiences continue to inform my work as a therapist today.

Although I have significant experience working with veterans and first responders, I work with adults from a wide range of backgrounds who are navigating anxiety, trauma, depression, relationship concerns, and major life transitions.
